We hope these answers help you! If you don't find the answer you're looking for, please contact us!
Where are you located? We are located in the Northeastern corner of New Mexico near the Colorado border. We'll give you exact directions and more information once you book your hunt. Do you offer airport pickup? We will pick you up and drop you off if you make arrangements with us before booking your hunt! You will be required to pay a nominal fee for the service. Make sure you arrange for this at the time of booking! Do you allow non-hunting guests?Yes, non-hunting guests are welcome. There is a $125 per day charge for non-hunting guests. Please make your non-hunting guest arrangements at the time of booking. What method of hunting should I expect? Most hunting is from rim-rocks around the canyons, but occasionally we do much walking and climbing. It is recommended that you be in good to excellent physical shape in order to make your hunt as productive and as pleasant as possible. The terrain is full of cactus, yucca, and other "thorny" plants. It's a good idea to wear thick hiking boots and if possible, knee boots. Can I arrive early? You may arrive up to One (1) day early if you wish, however, you will be charged $125 per day (payable immediately) for the service. What weapon should I bring for my hunt?Legal weapons are defined in the latest New Mexico Department of Game and Fish regulations booklet. Shotguns are the only weapon allowed for turkey hunting. There have been turkeys killed with 20 gauge shotguns, however some of the shots can be rather long and a 12 gauge is recommended. For elk, we recommend a minimum of a .300 Magnum. If you have a question concerning a specific rifle, please let us know. What extra equipment should I bring?Experience has shown that the most prepared hunters bring a "bit extra". We recommend the following: Your rifle and ammunition (extra if needed since it is not readily available nearby), good hiking/hunting boots (perhaps even a spare pair), warm clothing...fleece or wool works best, good rain gear (tops and bottoms), long underwear (thermals or sweats work well), gloves and/or mittens (best if wool and/or waterproof), Hat, cap, ear muffs (or other ear covers for warmth), Hunting Licenses, Camera/Film, a quality pair of binoculars, personal gear (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, wet towlette wipes, etc), a good knife, lighters, flashlight and batteries, several pairs of socks. This list of course is not all inclusive and may not fit your particular needs. The list is provided as very basic considerations. Are Taxidermy services available?Taxidermy services are available locally. All fees, transportation costs, taxidermy pricing, etc. are the responsibility of each hunter. A&M Adventures is not a taxidermy service but we do know several in the area. Can I bring my photographic or video camera?Yes, of course you can! There is no guarantee that your guide (or anyone else) will be able to take pictures or make a video for you, but you are certainly allowed to bring your equipment! Since you hunt privately owned ranches, do I still need to buy a New Mexico license?Yes, you must purchase a New Mexico hunting license or we cannot allow you to hunt. This is a state regulation regardless of whether you are hunting private or public land. What is the weather like? That's a good question. The weather here is varied. We have deep snow in the winter and spring. The wind is almost always blowing and can reach 50 m.p.h. or greater! Even in late spring, we can still get cold weather with snow. In May of 2005, we had turkey hunters hunting in the snow with 16 degree temperatures (yes, they were successful). It is a good idea here to bring warm clothes even if the temperature doesn't seem too cold. It can and does change overnight. This is my first guided hunt? What can I expect? You'll be greeted by Monte (or on occasion, one of the guides) upon your arrival and we'll show you around the lodge so you can be familiar with all the facilities available to you. During your stay, all hunting related transportation is provided for you. There is no need to "scout" prior to your hunt since our guides have already spent countless hours scouting for you. Meals are provided for you during your hunt. Game will be retrieved and brought to the camp. What if I have other questions that aren't answered here?Check out our other hunt pages. Many questions are answered throughout the rest of this site. If you can't find your answer, please don't hesitate to call or write us!
